Chair Rail and Wall Frames

Chair rail was originally designed to protect the wall from the back of a chair. Today it is largely used to provide the room with a horizontal element that divides the wall, allowing for decorative spacial separation.

Adding chair rail is a simple application; you can paint the chair rail white and paint the walls above and below the same color or you can add contrasting colors to the walls either over or under the chair rail.
